Spain is to tighten the monitoring of A/H1N1 "swine" flu in hospitals, following the announcement this morning of the country's first fatal case. The 20-year-old pregnant woman had been admitted on June 15; an emergency Caesarean was performed, and the child is said to be healthy. The health ministry said that its decision had the backing of the World Health Organization, but details of any changes to central government policy were not available at the time of going to press today.
