Device safety expertise bolsters board of UK MHRA

Sir John Lilleyman, a former medical director of the National Patient Safety Agency (NPSA), and consultant surgeon John Williams have been appointed to the board of the UK's Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). Sir John is a former consultant paediatric haematologist and oncologist, having retired in 2007. Mr Williams specialises in oral and maxillofacial surgery and is a former chairman of the Committee on the Safety of Devices (CSD). The MHRA also announced today the reappointment of Lisa Arnold and Michael Fox as non-executive directors.
