Nanogen expands real-time PCR deal with HandyLab

Nanogen has agreed to license its Mind Groove Binder (MGB) chemistry technology to HandyLab for use on the latter's Jaguar automated, real-time PCR analyser. Ann Arbor, Michigan-based HandyLab will gain non-exclusive rights to offer MGB synthetic nucleic acid chemistries, including dyes and quenchers, for in vitro diagnostic testing. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. The two companies are already partners under a previous deal signed in 2008. In this collaboration, San Diego, California-based Nanogen is developing a multi-analyte molecular diagnostic test for influenza for use with Raider, HandyLab's real-time PCR amplification and detection system.
