Former Democrat Senate leader Tom Daschle has been forced to withdraw his nomination as Barack Obama’s Health and Human Services (HHS) secretary over $128,000 in unpaid taxes, US newspapers reported. As HHS secretary, Daschle would have overseen the FDA which is also without permanent leadership. Frank Torti is currently acting FDA Commissioner.
