Cancer treatment specialist Accuray has signed a deal to make its radiosurgery technology available to medical facility operators and physician groups within Montecito Medical Ventures’ investment portfolio. US healthcare providers affiliated to Montecito will receive financial support from the Dallas, Texas firm to gain access to Accuray’s CyberKnife technology, which the company claims is the world’s only radiosurgery system that can treat tumours anywhere in the body with sub-millimeter accuracy. The device uses image guidance technology and computer-controlled robotics to continuously track a tumour and automatically detect its location anywhere in the patient’s body. Financial details of the collaboration were not disclosed.
