Menlo Park, California firm Xtent has CE marked its Custom NX 36, a 36mm stent, and its 60mm-long Custom NX 60 drug-eluting stents (DESs) for sale in Europe. The Custom NX 60 is the longest coronary stent ever to be approved for sale. The CE marking also represents the first time a customisable stent system has been cleared for sale, according to the company. The stents, which can treat multiple lesions using one catheter, are coated with biolimus A9, the stent coating developed by Singapore-based stent developer Biosensors, and a biodegradable polymer, PLA.
