NICO start-up announces company leaders

Jim Baumgardt and Jeff Hanthorn, co-founders of US start-up NICO – an Indianapolis, Indiana-based start-up company developing a neurosurgical device for the minimally-invasive removal of tissues and tumours in neuro and spinal surgery – are named as chairman of the board, and vice-president and COO, respectively. Mr Baumgardt, a 30-year veteran of the industry, has been chairman of Suros Surgical Systems, a board member of Laserscope and president for Guidant’s sales corporation. Mr Hanthorn joined NICO from Suros, where he was a member of the executive management team and held multiple roles, including in sales and strategy.
