German industry association Spectaris reports that sales of its 150 medtech member companies in markets outside Germany grew by 5.7% in the first five months of 2008. In 2007, members’ sales in foreign markets rose by 6.7% to €11.1bn ($17.1bn) – representing 64% of the Berlin-based industry group’s total sales. The EU was the destination market for 41% of Germany’s medtech exports in 2007, North America, 22%, and Asia and the rest of Europe, 13% each.
