Executive Summary
Molecular diagnostics firm Health Discovery Corporation has expanded an existing partnership with DCL Medical Laboratories for the development and commercialisation of support vector machine (SVM)-based, computer-assisted diagnostic systems. The two companies previously agreed in May this year to develop a SVM-based CAD technology for cervical cancer. This has now expanded to include ovarian and endometrial cancers. The resulting technology from this new deal will be designed for use in web-based applications, allowing remote review, second opinions and collaborative pathologist interpretation. HDC (Savannah, Georgia) will own the intellectual property of the developed products, while DCL will have a sole-use license for the applications and mathematical tools developed under the agreement. Financials details of the partnership were not revealed.
