Varian takes radiotherapy tech to Indonesia

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

Varian Medical Systems is set to make its radiotherapy technology available in Indonesia through the Siloam Hospitals group. For an undisclosed fee, the two parties have combined under a collaborative partnership to explore the opportunities for delivering cancer treatment in the country. According to Palo Alto, California-based Varian, there are almost 800,000 people in Indonesia who are afflicted with cancer each year, thus highlighting the need for advanced cancer treatment equipment in the region. Siloam currently owns four hospitals and one clinic in Jakarta and Surabaya, and is investing US$500m over the next five to ten years to build ten extra hospitals throughout the country.
