Executive Summary
NeuroMetrix has CE marked its Advance system for sale in Europe. Advance is used in traditional nerve conduction studies and needle electromyography procedures. It employs a precision electrical stimulator and recording channels for nerve conduction responses and needle electromyography signals. The device also has a high-resolution colour touch screen that permits the review and editing of nerve conduction waveforms. The Waltham, Massachusetts firm intends to begin marketing the product in the UK in the third quarter of 2008, and to expand sales in other countries by the end of the year, through additional European distribution partners. The device gained US FDA 510(k) approval in May (see Clinica No 1305, p 18).
