This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

The UK National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has upped the ante for hip implant makers by proposing in its new guidance for these devices that patients be provided with hip prostheses that have demonstrated they work well in at least 95% of cases over 10 years. In NICE’s current guidance for total hip replacement and resurfacing, the benchmark is that the implants have to work well in 90% of cases over 10 years.
