Endo Pharmaceuticals has made its second big jump into the urology device space in less than a year, announcing April 11 that it will pay $2.9 billion in cash for American Medical Systems.

Endologix names former Bard exec to CEO post: Maker of Powerlink endoluminal stent grafts for abdominal aortic aneurysms names John McDermott president and CEO, effective May 12. McDermott formerly served as president of C.R. Bard's peripheral vascular division and brings 20 years of experience in the vascular device industry. He replaces Endologix' Paul McCormick, who will remain a director of the Irvine, Calif.-based company. The appointment follows "an extensive nationwide search," noted Endologix Chairman Franklin Brown. "We are confident that John has the ideal professional background to take our company to the next level.
