Executive Summary
Smith & Nephew is launching a negative pressure wound therapy hotline for patients. Announced June 7, the hotline (1-866-998-NPWT) was previously only available to clinicians, but now patients can speak to dedicated support staff about the company's Renasys NPWT products. "The clinical hotline is a component of our investment in a comprehensive program to support the patient receiving NPWT in the home and further support appropriate product utilization and patient education," said Patricia Burns, senior director of clinical affairs. Smith & Nephew recently lost a patent infringement suit brought by V.A.C maker Kinetic Concepts relating to its Renasys-F foam dressing kit, but the firm is appealing the verdict (1"The Gray Sheet" March 15, 2010)
