HHS assistant secretary goes consulting: National lobbying and consulting firm B&D Consulting announced Jan. 22 the hiring of Vince Ventimiglia as a senior VP of its health and life sciences practice. Ventimiglia just completed a three-year stint as assistant secretary for legislation in the Department of Health and Human Services. Prior to that, he was the health policy director for the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, Pensions and the policy director for the Senate Committee on the Budget. He has been involved in scores of legislation impacting Medicare, Medicaid and FDA, including device user fee and pre-market review policies. Ventimiglia served as director of government affairs for Medtronic from 1998 to 2001
