Zimmer will integrate Orthosoft's Navitrack orthopedic surgery navigation software with its own Computer Assisted Solutions image-guided orthopedic surgery instrument offerings under a $47.5 million cash buy-out of the company, announced Aug. 23. Orthopedic implant maker Zimmer will pay $1.05 per share to acquire the 87.6% of Orthosoft shares it does not already own. The deal represents a 69% premium over Montreal, Canada-based Orthosoft's stock closing price on Aug. 23. Orthosoft's Navitrack software tools are used for total knee and hip replacements, running on the firm's Sesamoid portable integrated computer, camera and display system.
