Executive Summary
CMS shoots down Dexcom and Medtronic requests for continuous glucose monitors (CGM) to get their own HCPCS codes, notwithstanding congressional pressure. In March, CMS tentatively denied the companies' requests to establish three new codes to describe the components of CGM. In August, a Medicare Coverage and Advisory Committee advised CMS that the technology has not been proved superior to traditional monitoring.
