Counterfeit test strips distributed in the U.S. by Medical Plastic Devices of Quebec, Canada, and Champion Sales of Brooklyn, N.Y., for use with various models of Johnson & Johnson/LifeScan One Touch blood glucose monitors could give incorrect readings, leading to the administration of too much or too little insulin and potential complications, according to an Oct. 13 FDA release. Patients in possession of One Touch Basic/Profile (lot #272894A, 2619932 or 2606340) or One Touch Ultra (lot #2691191) strips should discontinue use and contact their physician, FDA says.
