B&L lens payment bonus

Bausch & Lomb's SofPort AO and SofPort AO with Violet Shield intraocular lenses receive new technology IOL designations from CMS, effective March 6. AMO gets improved IOL payments

Advanced Medical Optics' Tecnis foldable intraocular lens receives a new technology IOL designation from CMS, becoming the only lens to currently qualify for the $50 bonus payment per lens for procedures performed in ambulatory surgical centers. In granting the payment, CMS agreed with FDA labeling claims that Tecnis reduces postoperative spherical aberrations and improves night driving compared to lenses with spherical optics (1"The Gray Sheet" Dec. 5, 2005, p. 7).
