New York City would generate $62 mil. in added revenue in 2005 and $83 mil. a year by 2008 by imposing a sales tax on cosmetic surgical and non-surgical procedures, according to an Independent Budget Office report on budget options released Feb. 12. The report notes that proponents of such a tax might argue that cosmetic enhancements should be treated on par with cosmetic products.
