Executive Summary

R2 ImageChecker mammography system infringes Scanis, Inc. '637 patent, July 1 suit filed by Scanis and iCAD, Inc. alleges. According to the suit, the Scanis technology dates back to 1989 when the company (then Sterometrix) created the first computer-aided detection system for breast cancer, four years before R2 was founded. According to R2, however, the '637 patent is invalid, and the iCAD/Scanis suit is merely a "diversionary tactic" intended to deflect attention from R2's October 2002 suit against iCAD, regarding three separate cancer detection patents...
