Merger of the UK Medical Devices Agency with the Medicines Control Agency will be effective in April 2003, MDA announces June 13. Heath Minister Lord Philip Hunt cites "increasing convergence in the fields of pharmaceuticals and medical devices" as "the main reason" for creating a single executive agency.
