Fischer Imaging v. Hologic

European stereotactic breast biopsy system patent infringement suit is filed against Hologic and its distributors in France and Germany. A similar suit filed in Boston federal court in November seeks treble damages, citing U.S. Fischer patent 5,735,264, relating to Fischer's Mammotest system and Hologic's StereoGuide system. Fischer had brought a similar suit against technology developer Trex Medical in April 1998; Trex was acquired by Hologic last year and Hologic has an agreement to receive a partial indemnification. Fischer concedes that "our efforts during the last year to reach an acceptable business solution to this issue have been unsuccessful"...
