Company plans to file an IDE application in the fourth quarter for Phase III studies of its protein hydrogel device for repair of denucleated intervertebral discs, Atlanta firm announces May 30. Device uses a delivery system with a dual chamber applicator, allowing the surgeon to inject the biomaterial in the void created by the removal of disc materials. Animal studies are currently underway and should be complete by the third quarter, according to the firm. Separately, Cryolife confirms May 29 that the Colorado State University Research Foundation has filed a suit which alleges patent and intellectual property claims related to firm's SynerGraft technology
