Executive Summary
Legislation (S 1106) introduced May 24 by Sens. Robert Torricelli (D-N.J.) and Olympia Snowe (D-Calif.) would require private health plans to provide coverage of bone density testing meeting the conditions currently required by Medicare. In addition, the "Early Detection and Prevention of Osteoporosis and Related Bone Diseases Act of 1999" also would mandate coverage of men with low trauma fractures
