Executive Summary
HOME ACCESS SURVEY REPORTS LESS THAN 1% HIV-POSITIVE RESPONDENTS in its "HIV Counseling & Testing Report" released by the Hoffman Estates, Illinois-based company Dec. 2. Home Access, which offers the only OTC HIV test, compiled the survey results from anonymous data obtained during pretest counseling. The 0.9% seropositive rate is higher than the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention estimated rate of 0.3% for all HIV tests. The Home Access Survey is designed to complement CDC's biannual published efforts to profile HIV cases and obtain demographic data for those tested at public health sites.
