Cell Robotics: Debuts its Lasette finger-perforating laser at the American Diabetes Association meeting in Boston June 21-24. The erbium laser, which currently is pending FDA premarketing clearance for use by health care professionals, is designed to create a hole in a patient's skin to allow for collection of a blood sample for blood glucose testing. The device will be manufactured on an original equipment manufacturing basis by Big Sky Laser Technologies. On June 17, Cell Robotics reported that because FDA was requiring the Lasette to be introduced first in the clinical market, it is terminating its distribution and development agreement with GEM Edwards, which distributes diabetes products to the home market...
