CardioThoracic Systems: Completes first program of its COR (Comprehensive Optimal Revascularization) training sessions for minimally invasive direct coronary artery bypass surgery (MIDCAB). Conducted Dec. 9-10 at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C., the program was attended by fourteen surgical teams, who "learned key aspects of the MIDCAB procedure using the CTS MIDCAB system," CTS reports. Cupertino, California-based CTS hopes to launch its MIDCAB system of devices for performing minimally invasive surgery in early 1997.
