Executive Summary

RAPS meetings: Regulatory Affairs Professional Society schedules meeting on "Clinical Trials for Drugs, Devices and Biologics" Oct. 7-8 at the Sheraton City Centre Hotel in Washington, D.C. The meeting will address FDA's role in clinical trials, study design considerations, statistical approaches for data analysis, and how investigational review boards decide on study protocols. In addition, RAPS plans to hold a meeting on "Advertising, Labeling and Consumer Education" Oct. 28-29 at the Hyatt Regency in Bethesda, Maryland. Issues to be addressed include: direct-to-consumer advertising; promotion of off-label device and drug uses; promotion to managed care; and Internet advertising.
