Angeion: Joins St. Jude's Pacesetter division as party in patent infringement suit against Guidant's Cardiac Pacemakers Inc. unit, according to a June 20 Angeion release. Pacesetter has amended its suit against CPI to include "several" Angeion patents to which the St. Jude unit has rights under a February 1993 licensing agreement. Pacesetter filed suit against CPI early May in the U.S. District Court for Delaware claiming CPI's Vigor pacemakers and Ventak Mini implantable-cardioverter-defibrillators infringe patents held by Pacesetter ("The Gray Sheet" May 13, I&W-6)...
