ALLEGED FDA RELEASE OF VISX CONFIDENTIAL LASER DATA TO SUMMIT is being probed on Capitol Hill as well as internally at FDA. House Commerce/Oversight Subcommittee Chairman Joe Barton (R-Tex.) has been monitoring allegations that FDA sent confidential documents on Visx' recently approved excimer laser for photorefractive keratectomy to Summit Technology, Visx' primary competitor. The subcommittee chairman may initiate a more formal investigation in the next few weeks.
