Executive Summary
S 1668/HR 5252 is signed into law by President Clinton on Oct. 31. The bill contains a number of provisions to curtail fraud and abuse by durable medical equipment suppliers, including mandated supplier numbers, advance determination of coverage, supplier liability, and restrictions on telemarketing. The House and Senate passed the measure on Oct. 8 ("The Gray Sheet" Oct. 24, p. 13)
