Executive Summary
Pfizer subsidiary receives FDA clearance to begin marketing its MC Rail line of rapid exchange percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty catheters, the firm announces May 11. Comprised of standard, long and extra-long balloons, the line is made with Schneider's Thalane material, which helps the balloons to "hold their shape and size exceptionally well"; the material also is used in the company's Mystic over-the-wire catheter. The MC Rail devices, which are "available now" at a price of $715, add to Schneider's Freehand, Mongoose, Forte and Magnarail lines of rapid exchange PTCA catheters
