Receives regulatory approval in Japan for its Quantiplex HCV RNA probe assay, a test for the detection and quantification of hepatitis C virus (HCV) ribonucleic acid (RNA) in blood. The test will be marketed in Japan by Daiichi Pure Chemicals Co., which also holds marketing rights in Taiwan. Daiichi is expected to begin shipments in the next 30 days. HCV, HIV and hepatitis B tests using the same "proprietary branched DNA" technology will enter clinicals later this year in the U.S. and Europe
