Spectranetics v. AIS

This article was originally published in The Gray Sheet

Executive Summary

Spectranetics files countersuit in U.S. District Court in Santa Ana, California against Advanced Interventional Systems alleging trade libel, unfair competition and infringement of two patents covering its excimer laser angioplasty technology. In March, AIS had filed a suit against Spectranetics alleging infringement of four of the firm's patents ("The Gray Sheet" March 29, In Brief). AIS claims that Spectranetics' countersuit is "without merit and an attempt to divert attention" from the original suit.
