Executive Summary
The Health Industry Manufacturers Association is developing proposals for alternatives to a freeze on technology/procedure reimbursement levels as a short-term solution to rising health care costs. Price freezes are one of several options reportedly under serious consideration by President Clinton's health reform task force. Within the next several weeks, HIMA plans to submit its proposals to task force operations chief Ira Magaziner, who asked HIMA to develop the document. HIMA's board plans to discuss the proposals during the association's annual meeting the week of March 28.
