Begins marketing the VisuFlo surgical site visualization wand the week of Feb. 8; the product was cleared by FDA via 510(k) on Feb. 5. VisuFlo employs a stream of moistened air to clear blood from a surgical site, thereby improving visualization. Research Industries' first blood field management product, the Sof-Touch external blood vessel occluder, was cleared in May 1992 ("The Gray Sheet" June 1, In Brief). Two additional occlusion devices, the Sure-Fit NormoCluder and VascuCluder, received 510(k) clearances in January.
